Reggie Fils-Aimé discusses a Lack of Articulated Strategy at GameStop

“We don’t want to articulate our strategy because they don’t want it to be stolen.”

Reggie has just been to SXSW where he talked about disruption in the entertainment industry market, as well as asked what he thought about a few things, such as the idea of Meta (Facebook)’s Metaverse. Though as to be expected, he was also asked about GameStop, where he served on the board of directors for a year and 2 months between April 2020 to June 2021.

During the talk, Reggie reaffirmed his previous statements, that “The gaming industry needs a healthy and vibrant GameStop,” as stated on Twitter in 2020, by saying that the company would do well when it branched out into E-Commerce, but when he asked to be apart of that effort, he was pushed away as there were “already enough people on the team”.

When he was asked about the company strategy, he stated

There has not been an articulated strategy. Leadership says we don’t want to articulate our strategy because they don’t want it to be stolen.”
