The annual Electronics Entertainment Expo (“E3”) has been cancelled. E3 has previously been cancelled for in-person attendance in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in both 2020 and 2021. In 2021, however, they held an all-digital event which has also been cancelled this year.

The ESA released a statement confirming to IGN that the event will not go forward this year, physically or digitally, which you can read here:

“We will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether enjoyed from the show floor or your favorite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring the community, media, and industry back together in an all-new format and interactive experience. We look forward to presenting E3 to fans around the world live from Los Angeles in 2023.”

At this time, it is unclear if companies like Nintendo will hold alternative events similar to what they’ve done in previous years. If something like that is announced, we’ll of course let you know…
