Until this is explicitly confirmed by Nintendo, please take everything in this article as purely speculation, and with a grain of salt.

GameXplain’s Tris Valbuena recently made a video discussing the potential for a Nintendo Direct amidst rumors beginning to appear online that a Direct could occur in September. Why? Well, the reasoning is simple: there has been a Direct every September for a while now. While Nintendo hasn’t confirmed anything yet, speculation has begun to spread online in regards to what would be included. (We’ve linked Valbuena’s report on GX below for you!)

The most notable rumor comes from Jeff Grubb, someone who is notable for being a reliable source for industry rumors, stated that the September Direct is happening and indicated that it could be Zelda-heavy (conversation regarding the Direct happens at the 11m20s mark):

100% there is a Nintendo Direct in September. Like, it’s that simple. […] I think there’s going to be a lot of Zelda at this thing. I think this is going to be a Zelda blow-out for Nintendo.

There are growing rumors that Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD’s ports could be making their way to Switch, perhaps near or alongside Breath of the Wild 2’s release (which, as a reminder, is slated for 2022). Grubb does state that according to “a pretty good source,” there will be a Direct during the week of September 12th.

It will be interesting to see if there is indeed a Direct announced!
