It has been a minute since I was around here. Why? Because behind-the-scenes, I’ve been working on some deals to help keep this site afloat and most importantly: independent. While I don’t have much to share on that front, I do have a couple things to announce.
We’ve adopted Cloudflare’s security and DNS services
We’re electing to adopt Cloudflare’s security and DNS services for the site after encountering a DDoS attack last month (notice how our content slowed down?) If you encounter a problem following this switch, please send us a message ASAP so we can look into it! Thank you.
We’re going to be on YouTube starting Late September/Early October!
We’re expanding into video coverage! To start, once-daily (Tuesday-Saturday) video updates will be the first “product” launched on the YouTube channel, with a weekly news discussion podcast launching sometime after that. We anticipate the podcast to begin after the Thanksgiving holiday but before Christmas. However — production delays and the bandwidth of Tyson and I could prevent this from happening until January or February. Please subscribe to us at youtube.com/@kakarikoherald, and tell a friend!
And just to try and fend off the mountain amount of emails ahead of time, no, we’re NOT interested in joining a multi-channel network (“MCN”). We recognize that outreach is part of your job, but please don’t ask. (You’re going to ask anyway, I don’t know why I’m bothering putting this here.)
