Nintendo Stops Accepting Responses for Switch Physical/Digital Games Survey Following Twitter Trend
Game Key Cards were the heat of debate
Following community uproar on Twitter, Nintendo have shuttered a survey they were conducting on Switch physical and digital games. The questions included, but were not limited to (paraphrasing):
Nintendo have deactivated the survey about physical and digital games.

I hope Nintendo are listening and are not ignoring fans of physical media. https://t.co/zzFzigkbb3 pic.twitter.com/JzBozBj0kx
- Would you consider purchasing a [physical/digital] game?
- For which reasons?
- Would you consider purchasing a physical game with a download? (Not download code, but required a download e.g. Game Key Cards)
- Would you consider purchasing a physical game with no download required?
Community sentiment on Twitter have been overwhelmingly against Game Key Cards, mostly due to their requirement of a game download upon inserting the Game Card into a Switch 2 console. Here are just a few reactions from individuals this writer found scrolling around this evening:
I wonder if Nintendo got sick and tired of our complaining LOL. Hopefully they got an earful and this will lead to meaningful change! pic.twitter.com/MKpWBYB71Z

Make sure you all take the survey and let Nintendo know that we want Game Key Cards instead of digital only in the future 🔥🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/ZUqnzb1EBT

I’d always prefer full on cart, so I’ll answer physical to sure. But between a GKC and full digital, I choose GKC, if it’s the only option.

It is unclear why the survey was shut down after a short amount of time. To play devil's advocate for a moment, it is always likely Nintendo collected the data it was looking for, hit a response limit with Qualtrics (its survey partner), and/or just flat decided to close the gates for now.
But it's anyone's guess what happened, really! For those who filled out the survey, it appears they're hoping Nintendo listens. Only time will tell!
